Head Teachers Letter
25th January 2021
As Lockdown continues it is important that we all work together to ensure that our children do not suffer. The teachers are connecting with their class each day and working hard to ensure that we support parents and children to connect and access the learning so that the children do not suffer from this lockdown. It really is a joint effort by the whole community to make this work for our children and we thank everyone for their continued efforts with this.
We understand that what parents are being asked to do is extremely challenging and for some, not humanly possible at the moment. Working, parenting and teaching are three different jobs that realistically cannot be done at the same time. It is not hard because you are doing it wrong. It’s hard because it’s too much. Do the best you can. We are in this together to stay well and that means mentally well, too.
Our children’s mental health and well-being is so important right now which is why we are introducing ‘Time Out Tuesday.’ This means that every Tuesday afternoon there will be:
- No screen time
- No remote learning sent home
It is a time for families to spend quality time with each other and get away from the screens. We are encouraging the children to bake, do art/craft, play games, get outside, anything which allows them time to relax and have fun. Please share any photos showing what you are doing with the office and we will share some on the school newsletter. If you are working at home then please do this in a way which works for you, this could be on a different afternoon or with siblings playing together.
