12th July 2021
Dear Parents and Carers,
This very unusual school year is finally coming to an end. Your continued support with the necessary arrangements has been most appreciated. We are looking forward to welcoming back all the children from Thursday 2nd September 2021. From September the latest government guidelines are that we will no longer be required to operate a bubble system. Please be aware that we may need to wear masks and socially distance in September if the government guidance changes during the summer holidays. We will keep you informed of any changes but hope to return to normal school life.
From September the timings of the school day will be 8:50am – 3:20pm for all pupils. Morning club will run as normal starting at 8am from Thursday 2nd September. After school clubs will run from Monday 6th September. Mrs Travers will be sending out a letter for morning club and after school clubs.
The children will once again be able to play with children in different classes and eat their lunch together in the school hall. We are looking forward to having whole school assemblies and singing assembly in the hall. Our Acorn children have unfortunately not been able to experience this during their first year in school as our whole school assemblies have been held virtually via zoom.
School from September 2021:
The children will continue to wash their hands when they arrive at school and at regular intervals throughout the day. There will be antibacterial hand gel in all the classrooms for the children to use.
The children spent Friday morning with their new teachers and teaching assistants in preparation for September. There have been some changes to which classes staff are in from September:
Acorns: Miss Earles and Miss Thornton
Silver Birch: Miss Johnson, Mrs Fox, Miss Wall and Mrs King
Willow: Miss Waugh, Mr Brunger and Miss Irving
Oak: Mr Glazier, Mrs Lee and Mrs McKeith
Finally, I would like to wish our Year 6 children good luck as they begin the next stage in their journey. They have been an amazing group of children who will be missed by all the staff and pupils here at Eastling Primary School. Year 6 were unable to attend a residential trip this year due to Covid but did have two wonderful activity days at Bewl Water and Kingswood. They were a credit to the school and it was lovely to see them challenge themselves and support each other. There was of course the sleepover which was thoroughly enjoyed by all the children. I would like to thank Mr Glazier, Miss Earles, Miss Wall and Mrs Mckeith for being part of the sleepover. The year 5 and 6 children were all amazing in the school production of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. My thanks to the parents for supplying the costumes and supporting the children in learning their lines and the songs. I would also like to extend my thanks to Mr Brunger for the backdrops, Mrs Lee and Mrs McKeith for the props and of course Mr Glazier for directing the production.
Have a wonderful summer holiday and keep safe.
Mrs M Dale
