A warm welcome to the start of a new academic year. I hope you all had an enjoyable summer and are looking forward to the year ahead. The children have all settled in quickly to their new year groups and classes. It is lovely to see how smart our children are looking in the newly designed school uniform, my thanks to parents for supporting the school’s expectations regarding uniform.
I would also like to especially welcome our new families that have joined us at Eastling Primary School. It is lovely to see how our new Acorn children are settling in quickly to school life. We also welcome our new Oak class teacher, Mr Glazier to Eastling Primary School. I know that you will join us in making him feel part of the school community.
Meet the teacher sessions are taking place next week after school at 3.20pm for approximately 20 minutes. These meetings are very useful for all parents, as the class teacher will share valuable information regarding timetables, PE days, topics being taught, homework expectations etc. We do hope that you will be able to join us for your child’s session. During these meetings, the children will be supervised in the hall by staff. The sessions are taking place as follows:
Monday 9th September – Silver Birch
Tuesday 10th September – Oak
Wednesday 11th September – Willow
Thursday 12th September – Acorn
On Friday 13th September, the school is having a visit from The Book People Bus. Each class will spend some time looking at the books during the school day. At the end of the day, if parents want to they can purchase books from the bus for their children. The school benefits from this by getting commission from the sales, which we can redeem against new books for the school.
Following the success of the outdoor learning day in May there will be a whole school outdoor learning day on Monday 23rd September; further details will follow on the weekly newsletter.
The school has signed up to be part of OPAL (outdoor play and learning) a fantastic programme, which ensures greater use of our outdoor environment. We have a number of parents who are part of the school working party and have attended training sessions alongside the staff. There will be an opportunity at a later date for all parents to learn more about this initiative. The school needs to collect a wide range of natural and manmade objects/materials for this programme. We are beginning by collecting small world resources. If you have any of the following, which you can donate, please bring them to the office:
lego/duplo zoo animals dinosaurs soldiers
mini-beasts cars wild animals knights
sea creatures fairies pirates farm animals
dinosaurs princesses little people/figures
A reminder that we offer a daily morning club, which is available to all parents from 8am at a small cost. If you wish for your child to attend morning club please contact the school office. The children should be dropped off at the school hall where a member of staff will be waiting.
As always, if you have any queries or questions, please speak to your child’s class teacher or to the office staff who will do their best to assist you. We will continue to update the schools website on a regular basis so do look at the information on there regarding class news and dates.
Have a lovely weekend
