Art in Action
One of our parents, Holly Mason, is a creative project link worker for Creative Sense Community Interest Company.
“An after school intergenerational project was completed in the run up to Christmas 2025, focusing on many psychosocial benefits of making and sharing hand produced art, organised by a newly formed Creative Sense CIC, for Age UK Kent Rivers, Faversham. The centre hosted a Christmas Day lunch for 40 residents in Swale, Whitstable and Canterbury areas with the High Sheriff of Kent – Jonathan Neame, the volunteer project leader, Jo Martel and Age UK staff meeting on Christmas Eve to decorate the Age UK dining room with hand written messages and crafts, made by both school and community students, project workers and their wider circle of family and friends in Faversham.”
In December, the Key Stage 2 art club was approached by a parent who was supporting a creative Christmas project. Age UK wanted to provide Christmas dinner for 40 loneliest people in Faversham and each week in December, the children made a range of Christmas decorations to ensure the room and dinner table would look festive and welcoming.

Kite Making with Parents
Maple class has been making clay houses in their sculpture & 3D Art unit this term. They have been developing their foundational clay modelling skills looked at artists Ranti Bam and Rachel Whiteread before designing and creating their own unique 3D house tiles.
A big focus for Acorn class in Term 1 is the development of fine motor skills to help to build finger strength, pencil grip and accuracy. They also investigated mixing primary colours and used their findings to decorate their own planets as part of their space theme week.
Willow's art unit in Term 1 was Sculpture and 3D: Abstract Art
We started by discussing what sculpture is and the nature of abstract art. Over the term, we looked at a range of different joining methods to join different 2D shapes together to make 3D shapes including: tabs, slots, tying, balancing and glueing with tissue paper.
We also experimented with folding and rolling card to make different shapes. We looked at the artworks of sculptors such as Ruth Aswa and Sir Anthony Caro, the artist who designed the Millenium Footbridge. We also learned about positive space and negative space in art and how this could help us design a really interesting sculpture.
In our final lesson, we worked in groups to create an original sculpture and tried to incorporate a range of interesting shapes and joining methods. These are our creations:
Outdoor Learning Day
To link with our History Topic, Willow Class created their own cave wall paintings on our first Outdoor Learning Day of the Year. They looked at various examples of cave paintings from around the world, before discussing what the images tell us about the importance of animals to prehistoric people. They then designed and created their own cave painting of a contemporary British creatures before painting them onto a cave wall in the classroom. The pupils also tried mixing their own natural pigments using berries , crushed spices and a range of materials foraged from our school field.
Harvest Festival at Eastling Church Eastling pupils created artwork on the theme of "All things bright and beautiful" to create a display in Eastling church in celebration of Harvest Festival. All classes from reception to year 6 took part, giving the community an opportunity to share their creative talents.
