Primary School
Dear Parents and Carers,
As we approach the end of the first academic term this year, I’d like to take the opportunity to introduce myself whilst reflecting and giving thanks to all involved in making this a fantastic start to the school year, especially given the current circumstances in which we all find ourselves in.
Firstly, a brief introduction and a little bit about me!
I have been a parent governor since the beginning of the year, and am very proud to be on the board of which is quite simply an exceptional school. As well as being a parent to a child in Key stage 1, I have over twenty years’ experience as a primary teacher, remaining as passionate as ever about our children’s schooling.
More recently you may recognise me from workshops I have held at the school with my business “Wild Classroom” where like Eastling Primary School, I can share my passion for outdoor learning. This has also given me the opportunity to work with all the fantastically enthusiastic children that attend this school!
Now to say thank you!
Writing simply as a parent, I feel a great deal of gratitude is due to everybody involved with the school, for making our children’s first term back after an interrupted few months, so positive.
All of the staff have worked tirelessly to make our children’s safety and welfare the main priority by appropriately following the guidance set out for schools by the DFE and Kent County Council regarding Covid-19. Perhaps more importantly this has been done in a way so that things very much seem as “normal” for our children. This includes still being able to take part in off-site learning visits, having visiting workshops into our school for a range of activities, and continuing to provide after school clubs, that I know are proving very popular with everyone. While academically the school has been running a “catch-up” curriculum, providing extra help and support to ensure that our children make up the ground lost by the enforced closure.
One of the biggest thanks has to go to our parents and carers. Easting has always enjoyed very good attendance levels and even Covid-19 has not affected this. In fact our current levels this term have been way above the national average, so thank you!
Have a great break, and here is to a fantastic Term 2!
Kind regards
Scott Ryan
